Is AEPS correlated to my state’s early childhood learning standards?
|
We are currently aligning the AEPS Test and Curriculum with each state’s individual set of early learning standards. As alignments are completed, they will be posted as free PDF downloads, and are available here: http://www.aepsinteractive.com/state_standards.htm. Each alignment has face validity; experienced early childhood experts closely examined the state’s early learning standards and correlated them to AEPS, and the correlation was then verified by a second expert.
If you would like information about alignment to your state’s early learning standards, please contact us: aepsquestions@brookespublishing.com. While alignments with face validity are a good first step in making sure that any curriculum you choose supports your state’s early learning standards, these alignments ultimately need to be validated by empirical research in order to have real meaning for your program. The developers of AEPS have undertaken a large research project to create an empirically valid alignment of AEPS with the Big Ideas—the common ideas and standards that cut across early learning standards around the country. When the Big Ideas project is complete, the AEPS developers can work with your state to create an empirically valid alignment to its specific standards.

Does AEPS meet established early childhood standards for assessment and curriculum?
|
In addition to states’ early learning standards, AEPS meets the recommended practices for Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education as outlined by the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Guidelines for Appropriate Curriculum and Assessment in Programs Serving Children Ages 3 Through 8.
